Antioxidants

NTPF "Etalon" ltd. offers composite boride antioxidants BorTiX® for carbon-bearing refractory materials (MgO-C, Al2O3-C etc.).

Carbon-bearing refractory materials are widely used in oxygen converters linings, arc furnaces, steel-teeming ladles etc. Refractory materials with carbon incorporating based on MgO, Al2O3 Improve their corrosion stability and thermolmechanical properties. Due to the fact that carbon has low oxidation persistence special additives-antioxidants are added into refractory materials composition. Antioxidants are added in particulates in the amount not more than 5%. As antioxidants are usually used aluminum, silicium, magnesium and their alloys, also oxygen free compounds: carbides, borides, nitrides etc. The most effective are boron-containing antioxidants. A lot of analysis made demonstrate better protective action of boron-containing additives than others. Boron-containing antioxidants possess high reducing capacity and phase change ability during oxidation-reduction reactions.

Сomposition boride antioxidants BorTiX® are produced in a special facility by inert medium combustion synthesizing of boron-containing compounds and different kinds of metals and alloys.

Titanium, aluminum borides and others compounds formed BorTiX® antioxidants hinder carbon oxidation within a wide range of working temperatures and lengthen refractory materials durability.
